In the year 2014...

I'm thinking next year I'd like to see the following happen.

  • Play the Circle of Blood campaign
  • Finish painting my siege equipment and play some siege games
  • Get several more units painted
  • Face off against any new army books that come out
  • Possibly bash out another "Battle of La Maisontaal" or a mega battle

Managed to snag an old campaign pack, hope to work it into a game sometime. I was mostly curious as I think this contains some information about the "Red Duke" a interesting vampire character.

After having a read through the material I think I can make this work, naturally there are many things that are out of date such as some magic items and units but these can be worked out. The game consists of four scenarios where the result of the first 3 has an effect on the last battle which is "The battle of Ceren Field". (I think the biggest effect is the inclusion of special characters that survived earlier scenarios)

As for the Red Duke himself there is a fair bit of background information which ties in well with the recent novel. The game profile like all the other characters in Circle of Blood are pretty "basic" definitely none of the powerful builds you see in today's games. One example would be the Duke's Armour of Blood, confers a 5+ armour save and allows him to cast spells ..hmmm.

Also discovered this is the miniature released a long time ago as the Red Duke.

First time using a painting service, I couldn't bring myself to paint a 1500 point Bretonnian army I had assembled so I tried these guys - https://www.facebook.com/Pfigs very happy with end result.

I have to say one of the best parts about Warhammer is seeing large amounts of troops painted and on display. Hopefully I can field this army in a big battle one day.

Some not so Black Knights!

These guys are coming along slowly, I'm happy with the bone results but I will apply a small white highlight. I've now started on the horse robes which I plan to do in a ethereal style. I was scratching my head wondering how to include the ethereal movement aspect into this unit as I really wanted something to remind me of the rule and to look appealing. I wasn't keen on using cotton wool or going too crazy with painting effects so I've settled on ethereal looking horse robes.
